In April 2004, NASPL issued a set of best practices, Quality Assurance of Product Development in the Lottery Industry, and outlined its verification process in January 2005. Since then, the Lottery has undergone a review of these best practices every two to three years to apply for a renewal of the verification and has been successful each time.

The Quality Assurance best practices are intended to provide lotteries and vendors with simple, documented and approved methods for building quality into the product development and testing processes. The purpose of implementing the best practice is to increase the integrity of the Lottery business by producing high-quality systems that result in reduced risk, better performance, reduced costs and increased public confidence and player satisfaction.
